Lutes, Ballads, & Irish Ayres: a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration *** Renaissance meets Celtic roots meets contemporary folk, this is lute-driven music for modern folk, in a unique blend of lute with vocals, colascione (a kind of bass lute), violin, guitar, and percussion. Ayreheart, a progressive, renaissance-folk quartet founded by GRAMMY-nominated lutenist Ronn McFarlane, presents a special Celtic-themed celebration for St. Patrick’s Day. With backgrounds in rock and folk music, the members of Ayreheart bring fresh energy to old traditions.
